As a buyer... Reverb or Ebay?

I'm on the lookout for a PRS Singlecut SC245 that was made between 2013 and 2016 that has the tune-o-matic style bridge. Do you guys find that there is more traffic on Ebay or Reverb? To me, Ebay seems like a dying source these days... but I could be wrong

Yes, eBay is definitely dead

Buy what you want at the best price you can get it for - who cares where it's from? ;)

That said, eBay seems to have way too much offshore gear now, and the same item advertised by 100 different sellers. I wish you had to prove that you actually HAVE THE ITEM you're trying to sell... There's plenty of that on Reverb too, but not quite as bad...yet.

I agree with Chris, doesn't matter where. I check both and have different results. As far as traffic for music gear I would think Reverb by far has a better and more convenient selection.

I know it doesn't matter where I buy from. My issue is time. I get about 20 minutes of sitting in front of the computer time a day. I'm just trying to limit my searching some.

Chris Nailed it. Side note Reverb people at least know gear, so you don't have to explain the basics to them if something goes wrong.

I haven't used ebay in a long time but Reverb now adds tax depending on what state you (the buyer) live in. They will add it during checkout, there is no option.

But if you are looking for something specific like that then I'd search everywhere I could.

Most legit sites all charge sales tax now.

I would use Reverb exclusively, because they have a fantastic buyer protection program. I have had to rely on it more than once with unscrupulous sellers.

dont sleep on ebay. i got a mint 5153 50w for $371 shipped on ebay last year. the lunchbox versions sell for more than that lol.

or i guess keep sleeping on ebay so i can get these crazy deals.

ebay has just as good or better buyer protection than reverb.

I have come across some real know-nothings on Reverb, but then that has sometimes gotten me a great deal, when I explained what they really had vs. what they thought they had.

I bought a guitar with a maxed truss rod on eBay, and I had to explain what a truss rod was to some girl overseas that couldn't understand what it was. I'll stick to Reverb for that reason.

Is there really a better option? Just because reverb is so created by musicians/gear users. Does ebay hold your money when you've sold something like reverb does? Both the same to me. I wouldn't value one over the other, as mentioned ebay may be somewhat dead because reverb came along but with all the hassles and lack of knowledge and gear listed as mint and studio photos used for used gear listings.... I could go on all day. Neither is any better than the other. If a sale goes bad reverb ain't coming to tuck you in or mow your lawn no more than ebay is. Ymmv

Setup an alert. No need to search repeatedly.

This is why I haven't bought an Edwards LPC. Been wanting one, pretty bad too!

I have a cream one... Might be going to a friend at the end of the month, but if he passes, let's talk. ;)
