Very true.
It still gravely concerns and unsettles me how many people dislike cats and kick them and run them over if given a chance.
These people are low lives and have no sincerity or honesty regarding care and compassion for anything.

I’ve had cats as long as I can remember. I love cats. True story… When I was 5, we had a brand new (to us) kitten. I went to a T-ball game and the degenerate fuck that lived across the street broke into our house, took the kitten and threw it in a tree (neighbors saw it) before drowning it and leaving it in the driveway of our home. Fucking Psycho… my pent up rage reared its head about 5 years later. When they left their house, me and a couple buddies broke every window in there house with bricks and rocks. No charges filed. #Win He’s dead now. I don’t grieve. Pretty sure he was on track to be a serial killer.,.

I always change the channel or leave the room when that one (or really any footage or stories of animals suffering, for that matter) comes on the tv. I've seen some fucked-up shit in my time and do not have much sympathy for humans but I just cannot and will not tolerate an animal's suffering. Due to that we have 6 cats we have rescued over the years - several that we found as small kittens on our cul-de-sac that people abandoned or one, had been tossed out of the window of a car...it kills me inside to even think of and god forbid I ever saw someone trying to hurt an animal.

Yeah one time I saw a homeless guy beating and choking his own dog at a bus stop......
I regret not calling the cops..... It was pretty fucked up and I felt pretty bad for the little dog..... A lot of of homeless people have dogs and it's pretty fucked cause I bet those dogs aren't living a good life.
Also saw some pretty fucked up things done to cats just walking the streets..... People can be really terrible and yeah it's pretty fucked. Really fucked up shit I rather not bring up as others have mentioned..... It's just all sorts of fucked and people can treat animals really terrible and put them through unimaginable shit.
Some people get kicks out of it or not sure what but there is a special place in hell for people who torture animals in general. Sport and hunting is one thing but what some of these other psychos do really is evil.

The ASPCA is a complete scam. I give money to two or three local organizations that actually exist to rescue animals.

I don’t think it’s a “scam” - money does go to help protect animals, but I get your point. The question for me about any of the big “charitable organizations” is how well run they are and whether the board/leadership is profiting at an unacceptable level. It’s sometimes hard to know. Like you, when I donate, it’s local, I know the reputation of the organization and I have a good idea how the money will be used.

Lots of people donate to the United Way. About 10% of what you donate actually goes to charities. And you don’t even get to pick the charities.

I agree and that’s what I meant by “well run” - how much actually goes to the cause. Would be interesting to know if the celebrities are donating their time/likeness or were compensated. If it was me, I’d demand a disclaimer that shows I wasn’t being compensated just for clarity…

I give to kittymooncatchers and Stray Rescue STL. Both organizations I have seen in action and are actually using the money donated to help animals. I also donate to a lady up on the hill we call the crazy cat lady and to our local no kill shelter which has an amazing record of adopting out animals.
The kitty moon catcher lady goes to feral cat clans and catches them and spays and neuters them then takes them back to their colonies and documents their locations and sizes and feeds them. She’s just some gal who came here from Kansas or some shit and does it out of her home. She gets deals with local municipalities and has a few vets that work with her.

These cats aren’t actually feral. Most of them. They’re just abandoned. In my neighborhood there are a couple people who have built them shelters and feed them. That’s how we met the moon cat lady. A neighbor called her. They’re all fixed now. I helped build the shelters and help with the food. I like them down the street and not on my property. Which is essentially a wild bird sanctuary. Fuckin cats. I love them all but they are fuckin dicks. They kill the fuck out of birds and don’t even eat the mother fuckers. I chase them out of my place.

There's a crazy cat lady at the end of our street who along with my wife and a widow across the street have gotten all the strays fixed and homed saved for two over the past five years, and those two are fixed. Those two love to come and hunt in my garden which is right in front of my office - with a bird bath. They'll eat the birds but damn it, I'll see a murder every now and then and it pisses me off if I can't shoo them away in time, the little bastards.

There are several cats that wander around my property, they have collars so obviously not wild or feral. Probably belong to my neighbors, i haven't checked.
I just leave them be, no reason to chase them away. They are just as welcome as all the other animals.
