Tom is awesome and I wish him more continued success.

I have been really looking into a FRFR system lately and I think I might end up with these.

Just to share some of my thoughts. When I used the original axe-fx ULTRA ,I didn't really dig it when going direct. I tried it and it did not work for me. I preferred to use it with a power amp and speaker cab. When Tom first came out with the Atomic amps, alot of people were looking to use a tube amp with a digital front end, so he came up with the tube based power. Now that things have progressed and FRFR isn't AS taboo and sounds much less direct then it did,(imho) I think Tom was smart to now offer the CLR's. IMHO he has all the bases covered.

The time has finally come for me where I don't really mind going direct lol. I think the technology has come a long way....or my way of thinking or ears have changed( Maybe both lol) But from now on with my Cover band, I'm going FRFR because I'm tired of lugging shit :D

As far as passives being offered, again, I think it's a smart move because some people might already have a power source that they would prefer to use or in order to save money, you could get one powered speaker and one passive and have the powered one power the secondary speaker.

Just my useless 0.02

Hey Ralph! We should hook up after the holidays so you can check 'em out - a good excuse to hang for a bit.

Aesthetically I think they will be cool for the Axe Fx guys. Interesting to see how they will fair tone wise. Don't even see the point of a passive cab though. At the point you would use a Matrix or other power amp it would seem a regular cab would give you the look, feel and tone people like from a cab.

What does CLR stand for? Clear?
Hi Dave! The Atomic Reactor Series stuff always offered both active and passive versions of both the wedges and cabs. The actives are much more popular (IMHO the way to go for a variety of reasons) but there has always been a market for the passives. Since we're not offering a tube powered version we were especially conscious about people who really wanted this option.

CLR Stands for Coincident Linear Reference

The goal of creating this new line was to let people hear exactly what was coming from their modeler/profiler/preamp etc. It's like having a very reference quality studio monitor that can deliver continuous stage volume of 120dB+ and still maintain linear performance.

So, Tom, I'm the only one who doesn't get an invite? :gethim:

Glad you are well. The new line looks promising. Hopefully I will get a chance to check them out as well.

Hey V - Are you going with two of these? I see a lot of these guys running one of the wedges, and at 600 some odd watts, maybe one is enough.
I'm going for 2 Actives for 2 reasons:

- true panning stereo and complete sonic immersion
- 600W of output doesn't necessarily translate to what we're used to in analog tube land. It'll be loud, but not 6 x 100W head loud.

Peace,
Mojo
