I had a chance to hear the Helix in person when the rep brought it in and it sounds amazing. The ease of adjusting on the fly is amazing. I've owned 3 Kemper units in the past and a Pod HDProX to compare. Kemper is a great unit.

Things are a bit different this time. I can live with this thing easily going through the right FRFR setup. The Fractal stuff is great as well. I'm not interested in owning it though after trying a friend's AxeFXII. Solid product, no question...just not for me.

Basic tone/drive knobs are certainly not a Kemper idea, but the ones on the AX8 do look just like the ones on the KPA

well....because I'm buying the rackmount version, I have no idea. I won't need to worry about that. I really like the sound of what I heard and how things worked. Its about $100 difference. Not a big enough deal for me to consider. To do deeper editing, you really need your computer with the Fractal stuff, according to a friend who has the AxeFxII. I'm not interested in that.

No one is right or wrong here. It's what you choose and there is now lots of choice out there.

This is very tempting. I would never use 2 amps/cabs at the same time so this may be ALL the Axe I need. The cool thing is with the Scenes you can set different amps and cabs on one setting so that is nice. I don;t need a recording interface and would't need this in 4CM. I am trying to decide if this or the FX8 is more what I need. The FX8 may suit me better.

I would think most people recording demos already own a separate audio interface. Depending on your budget, you can find one from $100 to thousands of dollars. You just need a couple cables to connect the AX8 to the line-in of your interface and you're set. Certainly not a deal breaker.

Dude you get badass tones with the Splawn....if you just want FX then yeah the FX8 might be more your thing.

You should be able to still send direct single though, no? At least so you can record it direct and run it direct live?
