I'm skeptical on stuff too but the helix does sound real. As real as the axe n kemper on videos. Give credit where it's due. I can't wait to physically play one n see. I don't give two fux about Recording direct live thru a power amp into a cabinet is what I wanna hear n feel. That's where all these modelers fall on their faces.

I'd love for the Helix to be awesome but I'm not gonna lie - as a Shiva owner I call bullshit, that definitely isn't an accurate representation of my Shiva. Hopefully the user community can put together some better sounding patches.

The axe fx 2 clips of the metal clips are brutal. That ax8 can produce them would be killer. I'm fkn fed up buying big heads. I want something I can play em all. The helix looks cool but comes down to tone. I don't want deep edit n just basic fx. So the ax8 looks pretty cool. Sez it has all the amp models of axe 2 in it.

So do these clips. No modeler gets this amplike IMHO. Of course the 2 times I tried a Kemper I hated it Not sure what was wrong. One time it was through a power amp on a 4x12 the other time straight into a powered monitor.

Well I'm assuming those clips are direct, and we all know the Axe and Kemper are amazing direct. If only they could sound that way with a power amp and cab. Then I would buy one. Until then......

The race is on. If Line 6 can add some more amps to its model list that I consider deal breakers by the time my name comes up on the AX8 wait list, I'll probably choose line 6. Wondering if Fractal has a AFXIII on the horizon also...

I got on the list at 5:49 & got back a confirmation email at 5:52.

There is no AFXIII anytime soon.....the AFX-XL+ as the flagship product is here to stay for quite awhile yet. I own 2 of them & will be selling 1 soon since I'll be getting the AX8.

Since this AX8 floorboard will sound the same as the flagship XL+ with all 240 amp models & 98% of the effects, it will surely be a big hit at $1399
It won't do two amps at once, no tonematching & no USB audio, but most folks can do without that stuff. An audio interface can be had for pretty cheap if one needs to record.

I do have a Helix arriving soon that I pre-ordered for $1199 shipped........it certainly looks cool, but it's all about the tones, so we'll see.........good times!
