if I ever downsized my rig...could a axe fx and a mesa boogie 20/20 stereo power amp have plenty of low end and depth to keep me satisfied for modern metal compared to my current rig (see sig)?

or would I be disappointed?

That seems like itll be a lot of money tied up in something so small. When I was using those 112 open back crate cabs with k100 speakers, I had no trouble getting modern metal thump. I also ran a crate v18-112 combo with an eminence M12 and a damage control solid metal, and if I had to downsize, I would not even hesitate to get that rig again. about 300 bucks for a very unassuming 112 combo rig that brough metal almost as well as my 6505 does...

I always thought about getting a small mark IV head...fit on top of a 1x12 or vertical 2x12 mesa cab...but never did it. I can not part with the cobra. Love it too much...so if I stay with real "amps" it is the cobra...but if I ditch it I am only going for a axe fx, poweramp, and ground control pro rig...it would save me a lot of money actually on cables, rack drawers, pedals, and audio switchers that i would need to hook up my rack rig with the cobra...and would weigh a shit ton less.

No. It won't even come close.

Guaranteed.

I run an Axe into a Carvin DCM150 and a pair of Port City OS 1x12 cabs. I know that if I used one cab, I'd get tons of low end.

Can you support this is any way?

I think you'd get plenty of low end from even a single 1x12 with the right settings on the Axe-FX.
