Axe-Fx try out recording direct clip

Realistic? Not so much. As far as the tone, it's ok, but not great. That said your guitars sound beter than everything else in that track, so that's what you need to worry about first IMO.
 
Can you give more feedback. Like if you don't dig the guitar why? Drums I just threw in as a sample for trying out the axefx. In general should the drums have less overheads in mix?
 
I personally didn't like it because it sounded like digital distortion & not tube saturation, that doesn't necessarily mean bad, jsut not my thing. Other than that there were overwhelming highs & highs mids & not enogh body. Drums do have too much overheads, but they aer so different from your guitars, that it seems like you are sitting in the room where guitars are being played & the drummer is in the next room & the sound is bleeding through an open door. They just don't fit. I think there also was a bass guitar, that more sounded like mud, not like a guitar.

Sorry if it was too harsh. I'm too picky.

I have to totally disagree. Sounded pretty good to me and I'm as big of a tube snob as anyone else out there. I'd imagine you haven't had much time to tweak the thing since you just got it so it can only get better from here. If I were you, I would post the clip on the Axe-Fx forum and get some feedback there as well.

Thought the drums sounded fine as well. I listened to the clip through a pair of higher end speakers too. I mean the track is not ready to be burned to a commercial CD or anything, but I don't think that was the point.
 
thanks. yeah the drums were purely to keep a beat so I could try out the preset I tweaked. Your right In have tweaked the preset since then too.
