Axe-II and 2xActive CLRs are out of sight...

Seriously, packed this "steady" rig up last week or so, haven't missed it since. Weird, eh? I mean, it was and has been my go-to noise maker for the last several months; I have really been gelling with the active wedge CLRs, the stereo panning, the grunt, the clarity and all the other wondrous attributes this set up typically evokes.

But I don't miss it :dunno:

I've been plugging into a head and cab, keeping volumes down, ZERO effects, and just jammin' for hours.

Once again, makes me feel like a weird crossroads is always prevalent when thinking about the Axe-II and actual toober heads. Probably a good idea to pack the whole bloody lot up and forget about it for a while and come out knowing what I want and need rather than figuring out if I want and need

Just sharing...

If you're like me, your gear tastes change all the time
Last month I was high on Plexis and stuff
This month it's Mesa Mark series
I won't sell any other gear just to get a Mark
I'll get a Mark (if I don't have one already), play it, and when I get back to a Plexi phase, the Plexi will still be there. Br00t4|z phase? Amps for that too. Minimalist stuff? Plug straight in. Complicated? Eventide H3000 W/D/W
I don't see the need to be a permanent member of a particular school of thought
Basically, I just do whatever the hell I feel like doing at one particular moment

This is why I have a Diezel rig and a Fractal rig living in Harmony. I've come to understand that there doesn't have to be ONE solution. I use my Fractal for effects and also for recording/demoing/practicing. When I'm playing with the band/live, I use the Herbert as my tone with the Fractal as my effects unit.

Honestly - who cares? You only have to please yourself. Come to terms with that, and you'll be happier. I sure am!

Yes Mo it happens :-)
I don't know if I should feel soory for you or congratulate you.
Who cares....do what you do best....and enjoy.

Well hell I KNOW this but I understand it's bad for your eyesight and you can get hairy palms if you do too much...

This is the natural way. The other way is an abomination.

It's what Pat Robertson would do.

I would never want to be remotely or coincidentally related to that individual.

I will continue to rub 'em out Popeye style

Can't say I blame you. It happens. I sold my Kemper back in May and haven't looked back since. The Torpedo Live serves my direct recording and live purposes for what I need. Works great! If you have have the sound you like and enjoy then I'd rather use that than continually tweaking and updating firmware to a higher order which I'd probably never get.

We all have mood swings!

Hell, I haven't played my Axe II either... instead I have been playing my keyboard and samplers, lol!

Yep.

I just find it interesting that of all the gear to pack up, the A2 was the first thing to go. And I don't miss it. Nor do I feel compelled to head over to the FAS forum to see if (with fear and apprehension) there's yet another firmware update :student:

So it goes. I'm oldschool, bitches :dunno:

I guess you just get to do what FEELS best.

Anyway, go ahead...play loud, play quiet, just play!!!

Personally, I'm using head/cab with the fractal for effects, as was mentioned above.
There is no reason you can't have it ALL :D

BTW, which head/cab you been playing Mo?

DAMMIT I don't miss those days. GET THE NEW FIRMWARE - THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING (literally, your presets are now all fooked).

Depends on the mood - 20thX for the bluesy Gary Moore stuff; TJ for most of my noodling; Hagen for some songs I've been working on.

All 3 are still in full swing, but I've got to box another one or two up. I boxed a couple cabs up, so that's at least done, but ultimately?? Hard to say - the TJ is a great amp to be "forced" to hang with because it can do so much with some knowledge, understanding, and patience in the EQ department. I think that might be my holdout - the TJ - I'm really loving what it can do and how it sounds. Touch sensitivity, all sorts of wicked tones, great bass, great everything... It really kicks ass. And it's the youngest amp out of my bunch so I'd like to spend some QT with her, if ya know what I mean...

They're all keepers, I know the VH4 like the back of my hand and that's why it's packed. The 20thA might be next to go, then the Hagen. If I don't make any headway on my curent songs, the Hagen it definitely getting packed. If I manage some forward movement with the songs, she'll stay back. But again, the TJ is a great amp to get to know and love "intimately" if that makes any sense whatsoever.

I'm outta here - avagoodnight!!
Mo

I'm in a similar situation right now, I just jumped back to my XTC after seven months with the Axe fx. I went into the Axe with the view of giving it a fair run with the intention of worst case using the Axe for noodling at home. I just love how I can program the Axe to multiple changes with one tap of the foot and how it works in conjunction with the MFC. I've done about 20 gigs with the Axe and everyone says it sounds great, but my playing has suffered, well my soloing in particular. I'm not getting that interaction I get from my valve amps, when I roll the volume down on the guitar or when I really dig in during a solo. On a positive side the Axe has improved my ability to dial in great tones. I love the Axe but I'm going back to tubes for now..........
