Ive been looking at all kinds of reviews and listening and watching all the youtube videos that i can find of the B-52 At100. I found a guy real close to me who is selling a AT-100 for a very very good price, From all the reviews and videos it sounds like an amazing deal for a killer amp. Does anyone have any experience with these amps from what i can hear they are different from the mesa triple rectifier (which they get get compared to due to the 3 mode rectifier) and quite different from marshalls yet still have a killer tone of their own..
any help will be greatly appreciated.

My other guitarist has one....Good amp for the money. I saw a excellent condition one locally for $225, which I was thinking about for a backup head. Overall, if I say try it out. They aren't bad.

When they first came out they were the poor mans recto. I never got that vibe but they were a decent amp for not much money. At the price you're talking you can't really fail unless it's broken.

Well i got the B-52 AT100 head today and i have to say its the best buy as far as musical equipment that i have ever made. Ill start off with the clean channel it has a very warm dynamic sweet almost like a fender clean just more full sounding, great for clean metal songs like the unforgiven or fade to black (metallica). The first gain channel is killer for classic rock and all the way through 80's rock very good gain and nice and tight. The second gain channel is deadly its pulverizing with the right setting on the countour setting it can do about any modern metal tone and is better than 90% of the high gain amps ive ever played... Very chunky but clear and tight.. I payed $250 fot this 100 watt head and this amp sounds like it would cost in the $1500 range.. I could not be any happier!

that's my current amp and i've had it since '07. and you pretty much described it's tones to the t. the only thing i hate about it is the fragile tolex, mines torn up pretty bad i don't gig.

Glad you are happy. Another cool thing is it sounds good at low volumes. Toggle between the A and A/B. Gives a bit different sound as well.

Are they still making amps? So many people seem to love 'em.

I don't think so, I haven't seen a new B52 in years. Was the brand exclusive to GC?

no it's still around as far as i know. they quit the at-100 now it's like the atx or something like that. pretty much same amp just looks different.

yeah i was just looking at their site they are still making the at100 , the atx and a couple other models

How is the reliability on the b52 amps? Any common problems that people report?

They sound like a really great value for the money. I haven't seen them mentioned on forums in a long time.

people say the reverb sucks, it sounds great on mine. the damn thing has the transformers all on one side and it's on the heavy side so it can be awkward to carry by the handle. But like i said before i've had it for six years and no reliability issues whatsoever. just fragile tolex and not the best looking amp around.

Ive had one for about 4 years as a cheap back up ive had no troubles, good amp for the$$$
agreed described channels pretty good
