Bad volume pot or something else (guitar wiring question)?

I just got the black Charvel body painted. I assembled and wired both of these. I wired them exactly the same and both have a BG Hellabucker. They both sound great. HOWEVER, I can't get the volume to roll completely off with the volume knob on the black guitar. Bad pot, damaged pot (too much solder) or is there something else I should check before I buy another pot and rewire the guitar again? Any help would be appreciated.

Check grounds and whether you have connected the correct lugs on the pot.

Pot wiper not closing all the way. If there is no hum, then there isn't a ground problem. Looking down at the pot from the cavity, you should have the hot wire of the PU soldered to the left terminal. Middle terminal to the output jack tip, and right grounded to the pot. This is with the lugs facing the output jack. Or, you dropped a big blob of solder in the pot or maybe a bean fell out of your burrito . Grab another $10 pot and slap in it.

I am pretty sure that you are right. I checked and rechecked the wiring and it is fine. I wish I lived closer to civilization cuz there is nowhere close to get a new pot.

I just put one in my Suhr from Luxxtone. It is the first pot I've ever owned that zero means ZERO!!!
Smooth and fast as well...very fast.

Made the mistake of going elsewhere for some BK's because the other guy supposedly would get them faster and it turned into a nightmare. I have a used mini 500K pot and another regular 500K but the shaft is too big for the volume knob. Is there a way to test the pots to make sure they are good before I go to the trouble of rewiring this guitar?

Guess it depends on wood and pick up. On my Cantrell G&L's they come with 500's in them and a JB, I believe it was. It was so bright it was like glass breaking. I couldn't make a guitar change unless I ran back and made an adjustment to the amp. I put a 250K in it and squashed that bug.
