Looking to get more balls out of my current rig. Just need more PUNCH! Rig: Gibson V (V-Factor), Keeley Tubescreamer, VHT Pittbull 100 cl, Mesa Recto Cab. Currently I have an Air Zone in the bridge and I feel the lack of output and bass is holding it back a bit. I like boosting the VHT, maybe a ballsier pickup (not sure about output level) and boost would help??? Any suggestions on both?

Turn up the volume. It sounds like you've got something that should get you there already. Honestly, I've always felt that the 500T was a great bridge for Flying Vs.

Plenty of volume going on at jam! Could have a bit to do with the "Stiffness" of the Vht.

SD Distortion. Awesome pickup for old school metal!

A concern with the really high output pickups could be too much high end....on the other hand I think the Air Zone may be a little low on the output scale. Would higher output possibly tame the highs??

Buy an EQ?? MXR 10-Band will solve your problem.

Dimarzio Super Distortion defines old school metal to me.

The amp already has the graphic EQ..I just don't run the low end too high.

So..maybe not go overboard with something like an Invader??

Any other suggestions on a boost maybe???

the invader is a mid heavy POS pickup, ive never recommended it in my life and bought a guitar with one installed by the previous owner, and the very next day it was out - not even a maybe this will work came to mind with it.

SD distortion will get you where you want to be or an X2N

I like alot of mids though, or at least I can dial it back elsewhere....

Also I think the 'screamer is taking out too much bass.

Any suggestions on a better boost????

The Keeley Screamer taking out too much low end? In my opinion it doesn't take enough.

The VHT is already real tight in the lows. The pickup needs to go!

Don't you love it when you answer your own questions?

Maybe I'm being too negative and I know that pickups can change feel quite a bit, but if you like the general feel of the pickups, what you possess should get you there.

Sure I understand...but I mean in terms of output from the pickup. I needs something thicker from the get-go. The Air Zone might be a little on the thin side compared to the higher output pickups.

I love the Distortion and the 500T. Check out the BKP Painkiller.
