Bands you got into way too late

For me, I'm embarrassed to say that I've been listening to Alice in Chains a lot at age 43 and 44, and never gave them a fair shot when I was younger. I always assumed Man in the Box was from around the year 2000, so I was surprised to find out it came out in 1990!

Pearl Jam: I was often resentful against them because I felt they were responsible for a lot of bands that I didn't like (Creed, Bush, etc.). But now that I can listen more objectively, I realize Ten was a very good album to say the least.

Who did you get into way too late?

You could be forgiven if you NEVER got into Pearl Necklace Jam🤣

AIC on the other hand…

Tons and tons of old school thrash and DM bands compliments of like music on A. music.

The entire NWOBHM 🤫

I’m in my late 60s, I ‘discovered’ it in my early 60s. Obviously knew of it but didn’t get into it much. Stocked up on Maiden & Priest CDs then heard of Iced Earth. I think I found every CD. Larry tone! Great stuff!

Amorphis, although I’ve been a big fan for about 15 years, they were around long before

Dark Tranquillity
Katatonia
Iced Earth
Blind Guardian
Sentenced

Didn’t really get into the Misfits and Minor Threat until the early 2000’s. Listened to Punk in the 80’s but for some reason never played those bands. More Black Flag, Saints and Dead Boys etc.
Got into Humble Pie and The Faces kind of late. Also in the 2000’s. Anything classic rock that I didn’t discover in the 80’s when I was a teenager got ignored while I was playing heavy music in bands through the 90’s.
Would say I didn’t start appreciating The Stones until well into adulthood as well.
In the last 15 years I’ve grown to like a lot of country from 50’s through the 70’s. Listen to outlaw country on XM (Wife hates it, she’s all about the nu-metal, Beastie Boys etc). 😏
Pretty much any hard rock or metal from the 80’s on I haven’t changed my stance on what I liked and disliked, so there’s nothing there that I’ve grown to like in later life.
