Just dropped a Bareknuckle Nailbomb alnico set into my ESP M-II (maple fretboard)....wow...the Seymour Duncan JB/59 combo is laying on the shelf now to collect dust....Nailbombs can get very "Lynchy"....that's a good thing to me :D
Anyway...powerful yet smooth, harmonics ooze out, string definition even with chords under gain...clean up well with volume knob.
I'm happy

Sweet man! I'm about to put one in my prs singlecut. Where'd u get yours from? I got mine from guitarasylum.com. Still waiting on it.

Compared to the JB, is the Nailbomb Alnico bridge brighter? I'm looking for something to brighten up and alder bodied Hamer with a JB in it...

I'll be honest ...i suck at describing/comparing....lol...but...i don't think they are really any brighter...just has more clarity...smoother and more defined..tonight was definitely honeymoon phase so i'll listen again tomorrow when i can turn my amp up louder also...i'll try to give a better description for ya then on the brightness question

Cool, Thanks!!

To me the Nailbomb's have more clarity than a JB. Pretty well balanced with no freq humps or scoops. Lots of output, in fact I would shave it back a little (like 10%) if I had the choice. It drives my clean channel a little too hard. The string definition under high gain is amazing. I hadn't fully realized how good this pickup sounded, until I started plugging in other guitars and they sounded muddy and compressed.

cool, i'm digging the clips of the alnico nailbomb, the black dogs sound pretty great too, i'll bear those in mind for my next pickup purchase as it were,

Damn, George is one of my favs!!! I have a Nailbomb bridge and a Cold Sweat neck sitting at a guitar shop awaiting a special order standard ESP Horizon NTII that is taking forever. Cannot wait to check them out. I do have a set of Holy Divers in a Carvin Alder Bolt, but will be changing them out for the MCP Afwayu's (underwound) when I get them in.

after cranking my amp this morning.....chumbucket described exactly what i was going to try to say....this is an accurate description of the nailbomb....amazing pickup

FWIW, I was referring to the alnico Nailbomb. I'm interested in trying out the ceramic version as well. Anybody got a alnico Nailbomb neck pickp that they want to sell?
The Nailbomb is the first boutique type pickup that really delivered the goods for me. I've been through Timbuckers, WCR, Motor City, and lots of others that I can't recall. I've sold them all. The BKP's came recommended from my luthier who doesn't get excited about much gear-wise. He wasn't bullshitting.

You may want to try a Rebel Yell if you'd like a shaved back Nailbomb. I don't have experience with it personally, but I've heard from Tim, a couple of BKP dealers, & a couple of different players that the Rebel Yell is a lot like a slightly lower output & tighter Nailbomb.

FWIW I had a Ceramic Nailbomb and it isn't what I would call a balanced pickup in terms of eq. I've actually heard from the same group above that it's more like a hotter Cold Sweat than an Alnico Nailbomb. It has some scooped mids & a big bottom end. It sounded very boomy & the mid scoop seemed like it took out all the important fundamental mid content of my guitar. Just seemed to move a lot of air. I had to boost the axe w/a ts to trim the bass & treble to give the perception of mids. Very weird. I know it was just a case of the wrong pickup for that guitar, but that axe has plenty of mids so  . That said, the pickup struck me as being very guitar dependent and probably best suited for a super strat type axe or something brighter & thinner without much natural resonance. Just wanted to throw that out there in case you were expecting it to be like an Alinico Nailbomb, because of what I've heard from others & with comparing my experience with the Ceramic Nailbomb to what others say about the Alinco Nailbomb they seem to be very different animals.

Thanks for the heads-up. I typically favor alnico pickups over ceramic anyway. I found something now that works well for mw, why change ? If they only weren't so expensive, I'd buy a half dozen more right now.
