I'm gonna take the leap and try out a set of Bare-knuckles in my ESP Full Thickness Eclipse (since everyone keeps raving!). So I will keep it simple: In Mahogany bodied guitars I usually favor:

-EMG 81
-Seymour Duncan JB
-Gibson 500T

Other relevant facts:

-I play primarily hard rock, metal (classic and modern), and typically tune no lower than Drop C (mostly E and Drop D).

-My main amps are Diezel Herbert/VH4, Peavey 5150 II and a Line 6 Flextone original series.

Ok...So lets hear it. Thanks guys!!!

Once upon a time, Tim wound them all himself and they were very, very good. Nowadays, other workers make them and the some of the materials have changed as well, making them average to not so good.
Find old ones if you can. With the exchange rate, new production has a poor rate of return, tone for dollars IMO.

If you favor 500T's i would say painkillers. I had them in a paul and they were awesome!

About how long ago did this take place its got me curious. I have a set of aftermaths from when they first came out. I dont care for them at all in my Les Paul. I really made me sick as I wanted to love em but just cant gel with them. There still in the paul as I am still trying to like em couse of the 300 i paid for em.

Thanks for this ^^^

had no idea....Cant blame him..... but it sucks for everyone else.

Seems like once people start making alot of $$$$ they forget why they started their hobby in the first place.

On a side note. Painkillers are best for raw metal imo and Warpigs for more Rockish metal tones.

Nailbombs were my favorite for the neck.

They do have endless amounts of clips on the forums over there.

rebell yells forsure. love the bridge in my eclipse. if you want something a little less lean i would go for a nailbomb or ceramic nailbomb. miracle man will give you that emg vibe forsure. VhII in the neck is one of their best pickups aswell

Into a mahogany body I would go Rebel Yell's. The MM's are intended to be sonically near EMG's. I didn't like them and they don't sound too good when you roll the guitar vol off - IMO. I live in the UK and have tried or listened closely to them all. I also like VHII's.

Cheers Rich

I have very similar amps to you: get a Ceramic Nailbomb and never look back!

That is absolute nonsense: I challenge you to prove that new BKPs somehow don't sound as good as the old ones.

....said the guy from the UK

Right, of course my view is based on patriotism and now logic. Well done. Great reasoning there. Particularly given I play German and American amps and American guitars.

Your failure to substantiate speaks volumes.

So, no evidence? I've never heard that claim before. I'm an American BKP owner who hasn't regretted a penny I've spent on them, but I wouldn't say they are leaps and bounds better than DiMarzios or other 'common' pickups.

bk's are as good as they get from every angle, sound, looks, options, customer service, even their custom made pots and capacitors! i just purchased a aldrich for my charvel im eager to see if i like it more than my rebell yell i have in a different guitar.

This is the first bad review i ever heard of BKs, so a little more detail & evidence would be needed.
I have MMans in my 7 string Epi LP and Aftermaths in my Gibson LP. I love them both in different ways. The MMans are a safer selection- very familair tone, I can't imagine an EMG lover being dissappointed. Same thing but more organic and natural sounding, less sterile.
The aftermaths are in your face mids, which can be a love/like feeling depending on the material. It cuts through any mix though- records super easy.

i think when is doubt always going for a nailbomb or ceramic nailbomb...everytime i play a ceramic unless its a 7 string or something i miss the feel and the dynamics of the alninco. thats what great about the rebell yell its basically a refined and leaner nailbomb.

Boy...I'm getting pretty confused here! (but I appreciate all the thoughts and advice).

The guys over at Bareknuckle are recommending (based on my email...identical to my original post here) the Painkiller set. But most of the guys here seem to be leaning towards the Miracle Man, Nailbomb or Rebel Yells. Well...Keep 'em coming. Right now...I think I MIGHT be leaning in the direction of the Miracles. I really like the idea of a more natural and organic sounding EMG.

You genuinely cannot go wrong with that guitar and a C-Bomb.
