I did a quick search and found nothing (or didn't search hard enough) regarding BKP's pots and caps, so I figured I'd ask.

Are any of you guys running their custom taper 550k pots or the Jensen Caps they sell? I am ordered a set of Alnico Nailbombs for my Les Paul in the next few weeks and considered getting the potentiometers and capacitors from them as well seeing as I have a Gibson PCB anyways. I was just curious if these were worth the coin or are they just snake oil in comparison to grabbing and handful of CTS pots and caps from Stewmac.

Thanks guys/gals!

Some people stated that it makes a difference. When I ordered my BKP's I got the 4 pots, and two caps for my Les Paul. They are still in there with a a5 Warpig in the bridge, and a Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro in the neck. Not really sure if it makes a whole hell of a lot of difference, but the guys that work at BKP always seemed grounded in communications, so I went with the recommendation.

I can tell you that I like how my guitar sounds, enough to not ever replace what is in that guitar. I would have to buy a different guitar to try different pickups on if I was curious because that guitar with all of the above in it is staying that way. It's been that way for awhile now.

Awesome! Thanks for the response. I know the differences are small, but if I'm going to have to buy that stuff anyway, I'd rather get good stuff right up front. How do the pots feel? Are they loose or tight? Good taper when you roll off the volume and such?

The pots are CTS. They roll off fine, and the roll feels normal, not loose nor tight.

The Dimarzio CTS long shaft pots are nice too. I have also had good experiences with the CTS pots from ACME. Slightly different and cheaper, but the ACME tolerances were closer to 500K than the Dimarzio's.

Just some other options for you.

How come you have the SD Alnico II Pro instead of the Warpig neck pickup??

I like the way the SD Alnico II Pro sounds.
