So I'm considering getting a VHII neck pu for one of my guitars and was wondering if any of you guys have compared it to neck pu's by brands like Motor City or Wolfetone? So far my favorite neck pickups are the Wolfetone Marshallhead and Motor City Detroiter, but the VHII neck gets a lot of praise, so I'm curious. I've tried the majority of Bareknuckle's humbuckers and in general I found them a bit too polished sounding and just not quite as good to me as the Motor City and Wolfetones, but I remember being quite impressed with the Juggernaut neck I tried in my friends guitar, which is supposed to be like a higher output VHII neck. Any input would be appreciated

Can't help you with the VHII, but in my experience with the BKP Cold Sweat and Holy Diver necks, they are low output and very woody, something not everyone will like unless you love a clear sweet tone, it can sound very laid back compared to others. I think the VHII is even more vintage if I'm not mistaken.

I used to have a Wolfetone Marshallhead and MCP Detroiter set as well. The Wolfetone neck was easily the best I ever played, just wish the bridge had a bit more mid grind going and it would have been a perfect set. I liked the Detroiter bridge better, but the neck wasn't as good as the Wolfetone.

I have a VHII bridge pup and am pretty happy with it. Very open sounding. Other pups I use are DiMarzios and Emgs and while I would not compare it to an Emg, I would say its almost as tight. Definitely closer to the DiMarzio but not as hot and not as bright. Guitar is an alder body with maple neck thru. Also not as compressed as the Dimarzio. Overall pretty decent eq. Nice bass without piercing highs with a good midrange. Not scooped and not spiked. Hope that helps.
