I really like the Usa BC Rich guitars. And those are fine examples of how nice they can be. But damn they are so overpriced.

Yep big time!

I love the American BC stuff, I picked this guitar up over 13 years ago in an antique shop for 150... Plays and sounds amazing!
check out my warlock...

yea its a really cool guitar, early 80's probably like 80 to 82... it sounds killer to, has a les paul style neck , really comfortable, and a ton of tones from the preamp and electronic section, you can get les paul tones, strat tones, and etc... i dig! :D

you guys know what NJ stands for?

It has to do with the name of the town in Japan those guitars were made in way back in the 80s.

nagoya japan , the city where they are made in Japan... This was supposdly the first year that Bernie senior moved production over seas and still had his hands on the guitars. Not sure how accurate that is but that is what i've been told ! This guitar plays better then most american BC's ive played..and i've never seen another one like it...anyone know bout these?

Yeah, I remember being in a guitar store in the 1980's and the fruitcake selling them telling me they were made in the USA in Neptune NJ (uhh like Kramer). I was a kid and didn't know any better, bought it with summer job money and found out it was made in Nagoya, Japan. I was like WTF

Well here's the truth about BC Rich. Back in the early 80's BC Rich had an import line, the NJ Series. As for the American made stuff they had two shops. One was in ElMonte CA, and one was in TJ Mexico. Most of the bodies were made in mexico and then shipped to the CA shop for finish and assembly. So most US BC Richs were actually made partially in Mexico. If you look at most Mockingbirds you'll notice the lower wing is thin at the body and fatten up in the middle. These were made in TJ. The Mockingbirds made totally in El Monte the lower horn is pretty thick until it gets to the point. The Slash model is modeled after the El Monte style Mockingbird.

interesting stuff man ! thanks for the info... Im going to do a little more research...

I had a us made Eagle Supreme for many years and regret selling it. Should have sold the JEM instead and would have been better off. That guitar now is another 2k easily if I could find one :(

Bud the Vintage BC Richs fetch an unbelievable amount. The new one are insanely priced as well. I'm glad I bought my custom Shop in 97.

I had a 10 String original Bitch back in the day. Sold it to Japanese in the mid 1990's.

Hope you got a decent price for it because that would go for a healthy amount on evilbay
