Any BC Rich aficionados know when the NJ series moved from Japan to Korea? I thought it was 88 or 89

Not sure, but I had a slew of Japanese NJ Biches. The Jap NJs were killer guitars. The Korean ones, not so much.

I believe it was 1986 when Class Axe took over. I could be wrong...many things about BC Rich can be murky and inexact.

Among my USA Custom Shop BC Richs, I have a Legacy ST Bich with Floyd, and its really a great guitar for the $$, import or not. I always thought NJ guitars, despite where they were made were always pretty good, but the older NJs were indeed killer.

There are some real solid Korean ones too IMO

They can vary pretty wildly though so it's def best to try in person if possible

I looked into this a little further as 1986 was stuck in my head and really can't find anything other than the answer from BC Rich themselves stating 1987 but a few comments on articles and forums follow this quote:

In 1986 Bernie moved production to Korea, and Cort Guitars built the NJ Series intended for the North American market. In 1987 Class Axe entered into an agreement under which they managed the NJ Series, and began the Rave and Platinum Series, and production was again moved to different Korean factories.
