Hey, could somebody tell me the difference in gain between the two amps. I right now play a mesa mark v and am looking for something completely different in tone. Def want something that will go from bluesy rock crunch to hot rodded marshall metal territory. No modern metal but something that has the gain on tap, or with a boost/eq

I've owned both although it's been a while since I've had the BE, I do have a Small Box with the BE channel. The SS is perfect for what you describe in my opinion. It does lower gain tone very well though not as well as the Small Box Plexi channel :) The SS is a lot simpler to operate for me when switching from lower gain tones to hot rodded marshall by using the onboard boost. The BE can obviously do that too but it does have more bells and whistles for higher gain tones with the HBE, Sat switch, etc. I also really like the clean on the SS compared to the simple clean that was on my BE although the new ones do have at least 2 tone controls which probably help.

Great thanks man, so would you say that the ss100 has more gain on tap than the be 100, or is it just voiced different? Small box looks sick as well that'll be a def for later

I'd say the amount if of gain is fairly close on the SS and the BE, with maybe the BE having a slight edge. The SS has more of an old school plexi tone going on voicing wise, just with more gain. Obviously with the SAT switch you can get the BE even gainier if you like that tone.

Just a helpful heads up - this question has been asked previously.
If you search you should find a thread on this topic
Good luck

I had both, I think the BE is chewier and the SS is more plexi-ish. Both have a good bit of gain, the BE has more though.
