Hey all,

First off: I love my Friedman BE-100; best amp I have ever played and owned. Thanks Dave!

I notice that the volume pot of the Clean channel is a bit "scratchy"? I read the manual (imagine that! ;)) and it states that it is normal for the Presence pot to be scratchy. Well, my volume pot sounds about the same, only the scratchy sound isn't as loud.. ? BE channel volume is dead-quiet, by the way.

I tried some different pre-amp tubes; some make it worse (louder), some make it better.. but it's always still there. This is not a big issue for me; playing live I don't even notice the pot being scratchy. Yesterday, while playing at home, I took notice again and thought I'd ask if this is normal. The amp sounds great, either way. Just wondering if I should maybe have her looked at.

Best regards,
Robert

Yes some times this is normal. Sort of depends on the tube in the first slot in the amp. Nothing to really worry about.

Alright, thank you!

I have noticed that trying different tubes will help. I can imagine that it must be a pain for you to select tubes that will actually be noise-free.

De-ox-it is your friend for scratchy pots and input jacks, switches, etc.

It has to do with the circuit design not a dirty pot.
