Would it be noticeable or even worth considering to try some of the higher regarded 12ax7 tubes in the 1and 2 positions? I hate to sound like a noob..I have read up on some forums from what I have found the expensive type rca or Sylvania costly 12ax7 seem to be more for hi-fi audio..any help would be greatly appreciated..I know there are some great 12ax7 tubes available,but this is something worth knowing...thanks for any guidance on this

Well sure feel free to try whatever you like, but the issue will be finding non microphonic tubes in those positions. Not easy and you might buy expensive nos tube that won't work. Mullards are great in the first slots though. New tubes Tungsol's in those slots or what ever you like but again the microphonics will be the issue.

Thank you for the reply,I appreciate the help,I am somewhat familiar with the 12ax7 being swapped around.I just can't understand the nos tubes that have hefty prices and may not even work,so I am hoping they work just not in this application..I have experienced a microphonic pre amp tube once..was crazy. Thanks for the help
