One day Steve brought in his new Charvel custom shop to show to us. It was a pre-production style in robins egg blue color. The thing was gorgeous and it played great and sounded great. I played and played the thing. It also had a gorgeous birdseye maple neck. Thanks Steve for bringing it in and letting me play it!
Now Jay, the guy who works for me, used to have an early 80's robins egg blue Charvel. He really dug that guitar but had to sell it when he got into a tough spot financially. I showed him some pictures of Steve's Charvel on a Rig Talk thread and he was going nuts. Then Steve brought it in and was showing it to me and letting me play it. Jay stood silently by, hoping and praying that his turn would come. Hoping that a certain RT member would show some compassion and let Jay also play his new guitar. But as patiently and quietly as he stood, the offer never came. Defeated and dejected, Jay sat down and quietly contemplated whether life even had meaning anymore.
When Steve walked out with the guitar, unsoiled by Jay's grubby little fingers, the feud was on. Steve has forever become known as "the guy who wouldn't let Jay play his guitar" around the store. Jay sat down and plotted his revenge.
Finally, the day came for Jay. If you can't beat him, join him. Jay's newish Charvel:
Steve is now known as the guy who forced Jay to spend a ton of money, just to play a robins egg blue Charvel.
