Can the Pink Taco, Mini Dirty Shirley and the Smallbox be played at bedroom levels? Been looking around the Internet about this and I've read various answers about it, so I thought I ask here instead.

Sure! Put a Metro loop in it with a return level pot and use it as a global master...boom, done!

Ok! nice...but how do I do that? Just buy one and have some amp doctor put it in?

I use a Pink Taco at bedroom levels everyday. DS Mini works the same. The Dirty Channel on the Smallpox is great at bedroom too. The plexi channel likes to be wound out a bit more if you want it to fell plexi-ish.

Every Friedman i have tried or heard sounds great at low volumes

^^^ Yea really all their amps sound great at low volumes, especially the Dirty Shirley Mini I have and the BE100. Can say for sure that those two sound better at lower volumes than any amps I've ever had before.

I play my Pink Taco at bedroom levels most of the time and it sounds great. And it sounds amazing if you ever get a chance to really crank it up too.

My Smallbox sounds better at low volume than any other tube amp I have owned. Of course the Friedman goodness just gets better and better as you crank it up more. :D

Thanks for all your answers. Now I only need to make up my mind about what amp/amps to get. I love the sounds of all Three: Smallbox, Pink Taco and the Mini Dirty Shirley...so I'm thinking of either getting the Smallbox or getting the Pink Taco and the Mini Dirty Shirley. I only play and record at my homestudio so I really don't need more than one channel because I'll dial in the tone I want for every recording session. But I wonder if it's better to get the Smallbox or getting both the Pink Taco and the Mini Dirty Shirley? What's your thoughts about it? Pro's and Con's?

Well if you haven't demo'd any of them, and you willing to drop 3k, I'd just go for SB50 or BE100, but that's my opinion. Whatever you do look around on the used market. Most people that flip the amps do it quick and have long history of flipping amps just to try out so most used are pristine condish. Also it's EL84 vs EL34 power sections. But if u buy new find one with the new "Gain Structure" switch.

And it's hard to judge with these YouTube demos and clips so highly advise to try in person.

My BE 100 sounds amazing at bedroom levels. Gets pretty damn low volume for a 100 watt amp.

I've had the BE, SS100 (borrowed), Smallbox and Dirty Shirley. All fantastic amps at low volume.

This. The new 2016 BE100 with gain structure switch is amazing. I just got one last Saturday, and in my opinion it is perfect. It does everything. Gets chimey clean to any kind of gain you could need and still tight as hell, and HUGE sounding. It may be more "open" sounding now to my ears, and def gets as aggressive as you need. Cannot recommend it enough.

I'd love to have the BE 100 but sadly I don't have the cash getting it. The BE 100 is very expensive here in Europe (about $4700 + $150 shipping) compared to $3700 in the US  So I'll have to get the second best, the Smallbox 50 or the Pink Taco and the Mini Dirty Shirley :aww:

My Home setup, sounds great! The Master Volume is great on the BE100, the amp sounds huge recorded, great at low levels but Live in a band context sounds awesome.

I can run the Pink Taco at very low volume, like below the TV kind of low. The volume knob could be a bit more user friendly but it does the job with some careful movements.
The sound is obviously amazing even at that whispering volume level.

Yes, so do all other Friedman amps.

The BE-100 sounds insanely good at low volume too. And I have tried it against a Pink Taco. The Pink Taco doesn't sound any better at low volumes. Its more portable, smaller, other advantages yes, but not that advantage! All of Friedman amps are like this! They sound great at all volumes!
