I know this is a remedial question just need some assistance.

I recently got my first tube amp (Revv D20) and I want to do some late night silent practice/recording. I want to be able to run my amp into my interface (Ik multimedia axe I/o solo) via xlr cable. Now for the idiot question of the day. Can I just plug in the xlr, amp to interface safely and not blowup amp or do I still need a di box for conversion?
thanks

You will need a "load box" of some sort. The output transformer of the tube amp will want to put a load onto something and if that something is not there then yes, you can blowup your amp. That something is usually a speaker cabinet rated to handle the watts and ohms your amp puts out. Do you not have a speaker cabinet?

Edit: Hold on

I looked up this bad boy and it has this built into the amp. Not sure how they do that in a lunchbox style amp head but it is there. I will let someone else take over

"-thanks to embedded reactive load and virtual cabinet tech from Two Notes, the cab is optional."

Edit 2: Thanks @JerEvil and welcome to Rig-Talk @scadams
