I got my Framus Dragon from PaulyPanacea the other day. I have to say, this is the MOST UNDERATED amp I've ever come across. Holy SHIT! Warm, vibrant cleans, a good thick crunch channel and epic lead channel! I'm stoked! Here's a little vid of the lead channel, boosted by my Suhr Shiba. I LOVE this damn thing! Pardon the random wanking and tuning correction

I love what Im hearing!!! I cant wait to buy up that dragon in the classifieds? Your pictures are kind of dark... is this the old one with the tan cloth as the grill? How much did you pay for this again if you dont mind me asking?

2005, Non external bias model. Brown/Tan Grill Cloth w/Chrome Chassis face.

I've got about 1400 plus the shipping in it. She came with a fresh set of tubes and the original footswitch. It's got EL34s and JJ/Ruby 12AX7s. I'm sure Pauly can chime in on the exact tube models, as they are a better set and it makes a huge difference on this amp. It's silent as can be. The noise you're hearing is the OD pedal wide open with the gain down. I paid a little more for it that most of them go for, but I got her in three days, got her with fresh tubes and pretty much got a no-DOA guarantee from a reputable guy on the board. It's worth the extra change IMO. I'll make a better video in the next couple of days. My phone does shitty picture quality, but decent sound!

 exactly what ive been saying, the sound and all the xtras you get with the dragon, is a steal for what there going for

biggest sounding live amp ever
hard to capture its real tone with cameras or mics

The big thing for me is this amp cures my "Do it all" Gas. It's midi, it's got three distinctly different voiced channels, it's got an FX loop loop that will run well with a G major. It's got plenty of power (Currently pushing this Randal Cab to the verge of KABOOM). Now, anything else I do amp wise, is purely tone hunting for studio work. I can play this head live and be beyond satisfied with the tones in my arsenal! Now it's time to finish my midi/rack rig to stand along side this bastard on stage and my rig will be complete!

I must strongly agree! We were shaking the foundation of my buddies house last night as I cranked her to dial in the tones for the first time! He was speachless and on the verge of trashing his Randall V2 so I can find him another Framus

That Dragon is a killer. I took the shitty EH tubes out of it & loaded it with SED Winged EL34s & put some Ruby HG+ pres in V1 & V2 & some JJs in the rest & poof....it woke up!! I would have kept the damn thing but i really couldnt just let it sit & use it for practice. So rather someone get use out of it.

Those amps are so underrated. You shoulda heard it with the Cobra cab with V30s. Cream your jeans!!!!

Glad you are digging it JD!

Yea, I love this thing! It's exactly what I was looking for! I'll have to try and remember that tube layout, just because that's what's going to go back in her when/if she needs a retube. I'm used to a little more heat, so working the deal with you on the cabinent with a bit more wattage will probably set it off for me.

It's funny you mention the Dragon. Was playing mine last night at death defying decibals. I have some heavy hitter amps but the Dragon is still one of my favs. I don't understand all the hate, well, maybe I do. The Dragon sucks ass at low volumes. It is meant to be pushed hard, bedroom players will hate it. I never play at low volumes so I never heard poop from it just :inlove: Tubes do make a difference IMO. Cab and speaker choice can make or break it too. You are missing out if you don't crank the dragon for the fire breathing tonz. I love midi capability as well. I can control my Herbert and Dragon from my midi pedal.

HNAD dude, glad you are liking the mighty Dragon.

try it with a stock cobra cab
I had a cobra modded to dragon specs for a while (gets basically darker and a lot more bass heavy)
tried it with mesa cabs, v30s and others, but it always sounded way better with the cobra cab with greenbacks
the greenbacks make it smoother on the top without getting dark, and more upper mid focused, while the fronloaded construction makes the low end TIGHT

that was the best cab I've tried for most high gain amps, including rectos

glad your loving it ,i loved mine, and i think the 1400 is right were they should be , getting them cheaper is a steal, imho

^ This was the combo I used in Norway at a gig and it killed

Gonna be playing it through a Splawn Cab with X pattern V30s and G12-75s. I'm looking forward to getting the cab

Wow. A few months ago I saw a Dragon halfstack at a used gear store for $1,100. Should have bought it.
