Well, for Christmas anyway. My wife surprised me with this PRS SE245 from Sweetwater. Man do I love this guitar! This is my first PRS of any kind. I have always been a Fender guy and recently got into LP territory with my Agile's but this guitar is something completely different. When I first played the guitar I honestly didn't overtly notice the wider neck profile. My hands felt really comfortable on the neck and when I finally put it down and noticed how wide the neck was I was shocked! I have smaller hands and ordinarily would have stayed away from this wide of a neck; however, for a wide neck this guitar plays small...if that makes sense. I changed out the strings for 10's and this thing just resonates beautifully and the tone is big a full. It definitely has a modern feel and sound but I'm gonna attribute that to the stock PRS pups. The guitar also weighs every bit of 9.5-10 lbs! I am very pleased with it and will certainly give it plenty of playing time.

As far as pups are concerned, for you guys that have an SE245 or other SE models and changed pups, what are your recommendations? I'm specifically interested in Duncans but I have also considered a Suhr Aldrich in the bridge. I have the Aldrich in one of my Agile's and I love it. I play mostly 80's hard rock, metal tunes with some older classics and newer stuff mixed in from time to time.

Anyway, here she is..........................................

I've had good luck with a Custom or Custom 5 in PRS depending on what kind of magnet you prefer. I want PRS to make that SE 245 in goldtop badly, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

Thank you. Those two or at the top of the list. I was leaning toward the Custom; however, it 's tempting to try an Aldrich in there as well.

I've got a Custom 5 and a '59 both in zebra if you're interested.

Thank! I'll keep that in consideration.

Hey man sweet axe. Nice of the wife. Ever try a JB? Might sound real sweet in the bridge of that PRS. Usually put them in all my LP's and they always work there for me.

Thanx. Yes I have considered a JB as I too like them a lot and had one in the bridge of one of my Agiles. I actually still have one so perhaps that will be the first one. I have to admit I really like the Aldrich and am strongly leaning in that direction.......at least for today!

I had JB's in the custom 24 I sold you(Ibenhad), I believe. Great tone. I like JB's and 59 But I like classic rock/jazz/blues and clean tones.

I had the Aldrich set in a Carvin an JB/Jazz in an Edwards at the same time. Honestly, the JB was very similar. Perhaps a bit less "polite"
