if your Peterson is going crazy, it most likely means you need to do your intonation.

I'm hearing good things about the new Digitech Hardwire Polyphonic tuner. Displays all strings at once for quick reference. Check it out.

i just thought i'd add

the polytune has saved me on outdoors gigs with sunlight glaring down on your pedalboard, always very visible and easy to read for me

extreme accuracy depending on your guitars can make tuning take longer than needed i would think, i've tried out some peterson strobe tuners which are killer but need a bit of time, so if i only had 5-10 seconds to tune up between songs i'd be more likely to go for something albeit less accurate than the strobe tuner goodness but speedy

the turbo tuner seems real interesting in any case

i have a pitchblack. works great but is pretty much unreadable at a bright outdoors show.

+1

I used the Pitchblack at an outdoor gig and it was basically un-usable. However the Boss tuners are great in bright outdoor situations IMO.

Strobe tuners are cool but i never found them easy to use in a hurry. Maybe it is different with the Turbo Tuner...

I would probably go for the TU-2 or TU-3.

I have this issue with mine as well, but I find that stuffing it right up under a monitor gives it enough shade to make the display readable again.

This may not be easy to do with folks who have pedal boards (I only use 3 pedals, including the tuner so I just set them directly on the stage) but the idea is to nestle your foot gear up next to something taller (as mentioned, a monitor is usually the best available option) that can provide a bit of shadow over your pedals from the sunlight, if possible.

Yeah, I never understood people not being able to use the strobostomp easily. It boggles my mind that someone can do something as difficult as play guitar but can't tune their guitar with a strobe. I can tune just as fast or faster with the strobostomp as I can any other type of tuner. Plus, I love the sweetened tunings and it has silent tuning once the switch in engaged and a built in direct box. It's awesome!
