i'm looking for a friend who installed the M1 in his gibson acoustic.
the M1 is bright but not as harsh on top like so many other piezo types. There is a weird mid boxiness that i cut at the console at 400hz/-9db,
and there seems to be a pretty serious high pass rolloff built in to the pickup.
i'm a huge fan of tube di's for acoustic, as both the demeter DI and the universal audio interfaces kill, but he doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg. if the unit is killing it he will probably go $300 tops. maybe the Groove tubes brick?
tube preamps, and mid notch controls are much desired.
i have used the baggs para DI and am not thrilled. had the fishman aura and it was great for thinner guitars but this gibby is already fat. currently we just plug him in to a radial JDI passive box.
tomorrow we'll try my dbx 376 tube strip and presonus blue tube boxes.
