as most of you know I already own a Mesa Boogie Mark 5 but I was just wondering your thoughts and opinions on other and that might be able to cover music from Green Day to Bush Stone Temple Pilots obviously the grunge Alice in Chains nirvana Pearl Jam Soundgarden xcetera

Weren't Dual Rectifiers most popular in the 90's?

Johnson J-Station ;)

I kid but I still have one and for its time it was way better than the POD.

Oh god..... terrible music... :bleh:

Youre rev F with no boost should work fine.

Thats not terrible music lol its awesome and underrated

Different strokes for different folks!

Mark V!

I played in a cover band that heavily played that era with a Mesa Maverick combo pushing a mesa 4x12. covered Tom Petty to SoundGarden and sounded phenomenal.. but it was only 30 watts and didn't thump you like a nice fat juicy 100 watter....

Soundgarden, AIC, early Pearl Jam. That's some good rock!

Soundgarden used Mesa Tremoverbs as did the guy in Incubus. There were a ton of guys who used Recto's and that amp dominated the 90's but Green Day and Alice In Chain albums were more Marshall.

But Creed, first few Disturbed albums, Godsmack, Limp Shitquick, Lincoln Park, POD, all Recto.

. Ive played 90s covers and the recto was great.....well.....until I got a Splawn Nitro which is even better although maybe not with as many bells and whistles.

I would imagine a jcm900 and recto would cover plenty of ground

One of the groups I play in does alot (Pearl Jam, AIC, STP, Collective Soul, RHCP, Sublime, Soundgarden, Spin doctors) from that era. I use a Einstein and it kills every tone. Does the fender-esq clean with chorus and with the mode mod on ch. 1 I have foot switch access to all the marshall crunch and mesa style over the top grind.

Lets see. AIC..Bogner modded Marshall JCM 800s. Green Day..Suhr crunch modded Marshall (Dookie mod). Pearl Jam..nmv Marshall's when I saw them in 94. Soundgarden Peavey VTM 120s. STP..Demeter preamp into vht power amp I think? Nirvana and Bush I'm not sure. But i saw all of the bands I mentioned between 90-95 and that's what I remember, plus things I've read. Not sure what these bands use now but back then that's what they used.

Well I've been playing the crap out of my mark 5 I think it will do well I just need a way to thicken up the tone on one of the two channels but I use for distortion
