Best bass compressor pedal?

I am not a bassist, I play guitar, but my buddy who plays bass, his birthday is coming up. He rocks a fender rumble amp, and he loves the tone, but he wants compression on it.....I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as good bass compression pedals go. Price-conscious please?

There's a lot of pedals out there.

Best is not necessarily a price thing. You'll be surprised what a good designed pedal can do.
