H75,evh,lynchback or V-30?
In a vertical 2x12 recto style cab and playing at low volumes which of these celestions would be the clearest and still have some punch?
EVH 50 watt or LBX head have both at the moment and right now the cab has 65's and i hate them.
too dark and warm for my tastes.
going by YT vids(terrible way to determine a speaker) i am favoring the H75 since they seem to have real nice blend of cut, punch and mids.

You could try mixing the H75 with the Creamback first. Should give you the warmth of the 65 and the bite of the 75

I think I like the greenbacks at low volume and the vintage 30's at volume...

Just going by the YT vids i liked the GB's best
I dont know how loud the guy was playing the amp
but the speaker had good presence and focus.
and you are not the first to say that V-30 sound better pushed.
Any opinion on the H75?

Yeah thanks, i thought of maybe doing that first with the H75 on top where the angle of the cab is?
I was going to order from avatar and the hellatone 30 or 60 is only $105 each shipped
the H75 is a bit more.

I had the Hellatone 30 mixed with a V30 in a 2x12 using my now sold 5150 50 watt and that setup sounded really brittle and bright but not that good kind of bright like say the tone on VH1 where`s it just cuts like no other. Surprised me cause that is a tried and true winning speaker combo but my ears just didn`t like it . I swapped out the Healltone 30 for a Scumback M75 (greenie clone of course) and it was much more pleasing to my ears , tight lows with nice thick mids and sparkly highs. I`ve got that setup in a 4x12 also and it sounds great in there also using my Friedman small box

I have not tried the H75... I would like to try those out one day, Ive heard good things.

I suspect that all answers here will be the poster's favorite Celestion. I would choose a speaker with greater sensitivity (100db) for low volume playing. It takes more volume for less efficient speakers (98, 97, 96db) to "come alive." They'll all sound better when they're moving serious air, but this is, I guess, the primary factor I'd consider in this particular situation.

I have a Jet City 2x12 vert slant cab with Lynchbacks. Zero complaints here. Not quite as full as my G12M-25 loaded Marshall 4x12 but still sounds big even at lower volumes with my 20 watt Jet City heads.

Not a Celestion, but the Eminence Rainmaker with their Flux Density Modulation delivers the goods at lower volumes. I think they offer the technology in other speakers as well.

how do you like your current speakers when you are playing at louder volumes?

it will be very hard to try getting speakers that sound good for low and high volume playing.

especially if they havent been broken in.

speakers only really give off their characteristic sounds when the cones are under excursion.

the solution that will be most economical would be to get a nice eq for the loop.

works great for micro dialing in tones at whatever volume.

i use an old boss 1/2 rack eq i picked up for a hundred bucks and only use it for low volume playing. really allows u to sculpt the tones.

this would be the most reliable way to get your sound.

i would try the eq first.

then if that doesnt get u there, sell it, and start the money pit of chasing speakers. lol

ask me how i know this!
