I've gotten some amazing advice on here, and figured I'd ask another question. I'm currently using GarageBand on my iPad and mixcraft 5 on my PC. I've messed with them some, but haven't done anything of quality yet but I think that's on me, not the programs. With all the DAWs out there I figured I'd look into what you guys are using. Thanks!!!! JoeV

I like Mixcraft because I am not an audiophile. It is easy. I am sure many on here use more sophisticated programs but I like easy :)

If you have Apple, I find Logic to be easy especially if you're coming from Garageband. I'm not sure if there is a Logic for iPad.

That said, GarageBand is pretty darn powerful and can do an incredible amount in it. The only reason I upgraded to Logic is because I work with changing time signatures and tempos, which GarageBand does not allow you to do for click tracks.

Logic is really cheap, but buying an Apple is really the major cost of admission.

Thanks Legend and Dirtyfunkg!!!! Yeah for the time being a Mac isn't an option. I appreciate the replies very much!!!

check out reaper for free
if you like it pay 50 dollars for it
i think its a lot easier and fun to use than logic as well as much cheaper

Why did you create two threads asking the exact same question just worded differently?

There is some free version of Pro Tools being released, aimed at musicians. I have no idea what the limitations are compared to the regular version.

I appreciate all the replies, and I apologize for the double post!!! I didn't think it posted first time. Sorry bout that!!!

Reaper for the cost. I'd look at Cubase Elements though. After trying many, Cubase makes the most sense to me.

at the moment i use reaper. i personally can't find a reason to upgrade to any of the big name stuff.

Reaper... Done. And there ain't NO skimping on the quality - it's top drawer all the way. Even comes with a free evaluation period. They're awesome and their forum is kickass.

Been a long time Reaper user - can't see any reason to change for a long time ahead, if ever.

There are many sort of program shown on TV, internet or many other sources of media and there are many comments and suggestion by different people always. The rig talk is the place paper editing services platform where the people show their feeling and expression about any programme.

Looks like these 2 bots have resurrected this old thread.

Ha, yep, and back in 2015 apparently it was Ableton Live:

I have an imac that came with garageband.
After awhile, I found out I needed a full featured Garageband that works great with Apple's Imac, so Logic pro was the next obvious choice.
Happy recording ever after ?

Reaper, hands down. Incredibly powerful and free for a long trial. It comes loaded with tons of add ons, delay's, reverbs, eq's, compressors, etc. The instructional videos on their site are amazing as well. Even if you don't think you will use this style of crossfade, or parallel compression, once you see and hear the video, you think, oh! that's what that sound is.
