Looking for suggestions for a high gain/decent clean channel practice amp... Suggestions?

jet city jca 22h if you can go head/cab or a jca 20 with a dirt pedal if you need combo .... the 22h is WAY better than the 20 for high gain. The HT5 are ok but the one I had was kinda dull and lifeless compared to the jet city

Do not sleep on Peavey combo's

Bandit, Vyper, ect.

They can sound very brutal. Obviously not enough to keep up with drums but for solo practice imo they can not be beat for the price.

However I also agree with timeroo. I spent $150 on a decent used interface and used amp sims and IR's and got a decent practice sound.

Also another option if you have a small cab/pa/monitors is to buy the BIAS app. Very cheap and can also sound killer. I actually used that for band practice often.

But if an actual amp combo is a must, there are alot of good options listed in here but the best and cheapest imo would be a Peavey Bandit or maybe the Vyper.

how cheap are we talking? I've scored quality marshalls and mesas for less than $1000, almost bought a hiwatt 200 for $700 a couple months ago, that thing was a monster. (probably not a great practice amp lol)
look for a mesa DC-5, you can usually find those for $400-$500, has two channels with a boost and onboard five-band EQ. Had one for years that got stolen :aww: you just gotta keep your ear to the ground, there's always broke-ass fools with good gear that need money!

Another vote for the Blackstar HT-5, it's actually their best amp out of all their range.
