If I am not mistaken, it is the 2100 MK III "High gain" one that preceded the dual reverb right?

Followed by the SL-X?

Or is it the other way around?

I believe the Master Reverb model and the SLX came out about the same time. The 4100 was actually a good head to sit in the mix with a band. I used one for any years with no issues.

Depends on who you ask, but I've owned all 3, and currently own the MKIII and the HGDR, I still prefer the SLX over either of these.

I had a 4500 and an SLX (2100)

I would intentionally look to buy an SLX again, I wouldn't be upset if a 4500 was in a backline to use.

The MKIII 100 watt is the best in my opinion Lynch Kotzen Bonamassa etc have used them. I had and sold it like an idiot along time ago. It has the diode zener thingy ya know

SLX(el-34 equipped).
Love mine. Just a fantastic sounding Marshall.
I've yet to hear a youtube demo that does it justice though.

SLX is supposed to be the best.

I played a dual reverb and one next to eachother and they weren't THAT different to me, but I'm not exactly an expert on them.

IMO they are all good. Yes, even the Dual Reverb. Back in the early 90’s a 4500 head, 9005 50/50 power amp and two 1960 cabs was my rig. Always sounded great for the time period. Never even used a boost. They do need to be loud to sound their best though. That goes for all of them, but particularly the dual reverbs. They don’t however sound like modern amps. They can with a pedal or two, but not when plugged straight in.
A few years ago I had a 50 watt Mkii and a Splawn competition side by side. The Splawn sounded so much bigger.
I watched a Pat Benetar concert on tv a few years ago and Neil Gerado was playing a Dual Reverb rig and it sounded great. Awesome rock tone for sure.
But yeah, I’ve had all the EL34 50 watt variants and like them all.
