Hey guys, have been looking for a new amp for awhile and have come to the realization I need a channel-switcher to cover all the wimpy tunes my singer wants to do!  Am looking for something with a decent clean & able to go from classic Marshall crunch to hot-rodded 800 territory, maybe with some extra gain on top of that "just in case". I had been wanting a Marshall head specifically, but am now looking at others as well. I've read great things and like clips of the JCM 800's, Jubilee's, even some 900's, as well as Einsteins, PT100s, Peters, etc. Thoughts on the best all-around switcher, whether it be one of these listed, something else, or entrusting Dave or Mike to mod something into a killer amp? Thanks for your help!

Several guys on the boards put me onto the Marshall JCM 800 2205. Channel switcher, reverb and I think a great clean channel which surprised me because it seems to get a bad rap. This thing covers a lot of territory nicely. Great head for not too bad of a price too.

3rd Power Amps 100 watt head. It blows ever stock and modded Marshall out of the water. It's not a two channel amp, but it has a lead boost switch and cleans up nicely if you roll back the guitar volume. I'm going to post a longggg review on here in the next few days...check it out.

I have been wondering about this for years .... live I need a Fender / Vox type clean, Marshall crunch and some kind of lead channel. A few more would not be bad. I have yet to find a amp that can really do this.

My JVM does it for me. Very versatile, great reverb and footswitchable master volumes = awesome.

Landry LS100 or LS50 have the Fender clean and Marshall crunch with a gain boost to get into heavier territory.I love mine,it does it all.I think there's one for sale in the classifieds.

i think you should look at surreal amplification. pretty sweet products for the price. i'm on the fence right now between him and getting a fortin.

CAA / Suhr - PT100 - Exactly what you're describing ! Just ask Peter Thorn ....

You basically just described a JVM. I love mine and highly recommend them. There was a mint one on HCAF last week for $1300, it still may be there. That is a great deal on a killer amp.

Egnater Mod 50 with a T/V module and an SL2X or SL module

Thanks for the opinions, guys! I'm glad to hear positive thoughts on the 2205, which is high on my list, and on the JVM- will have to look into the JVM more. Love the PT100, and like the XTC but actually like the Uber even more. Any other ideas?

I tried that ..... It really is a great sounding amp. I still want a M4. But It still does not sound like my Twin / Super Lead rig I had in the 80's.

From what I played today I would recommend these guys just build it for you.

I played the Coop and a custom AC15 type build that was channel switching with a great trem. Both went from fat, spanky clean to rip your head off.

Elmwood M60 or M90

Cornford MK50 II

There is something neat about the Elmwood. 232cap had one not too long ago and it is an awesome tone for sure. If you were recording, this would be the amp. I kept playing 80s licks with it though and wanting to hear Marshall and it's not that in my opinion but great tone you can't really describe. Never heard that tone before but it was extremely pleasing. I think I need to be alone... :aww:

Sounds like a PT100 to me, none of the amps mentioned above can get as pristine of clean as the PT100 and the gain is very Stock Marshall to the best modded Marshall you will find. Great all around amp period!!!
