So I had been checking my UPS app this past week for shipments and noticed a 1.5 lb package coming from Rhode Island. I could not figure out what it was. Figured I must’ve ordered something I forgot about.
UPS guy shows up today and the package arrives. I opened it and realize it’s a pedal from Griffin Analog. Now I’m really stumped.
Pulled out the box and it had “G.Z. 808” written on it. Ok..getting even more weird!
So I open it up and boom, the most amazing pedal my eyes have ever seen. An 808 Screamer in black and red with my logo on it. Whaaaat…?!
Inside was a note letting me know that my good local buddies DistortEd and FondledDuck had gone in and had this made for me. They sent it as a token of appreciation for taking care of them with their GZ amps here and there over the years. I had commented before on how great I thought the 808 sounded in Blake’s demos so they knew this was the one to get.
The aesthetic of this pedal is absolutely phenomenal. And the LED foot switch ring is next level.
I plugged it in and man does it sound good. It’s like a Tube screamer but the frequencies are much better balanced and the lows aren’t so removed like a regular TS. I like this much better. Sounds really great!
Needless to say, this will never come unattached from my pedal board. Thanks so much to Ed, Kris and of course, Wayne for making this happen. Appreciate it guys!!
