heya guys,

i have an Epiphone Les Paul baritone i use for my drop Bb tuned stuff. killer guitar that plays like a dream, just sounds terrible. big boomy bass and lots of extra gritty distortion make it really hard to dial in good tones. i have a Michael Kelly Patriot with Rockfield SWC pickups in that i have tuned down to C and it sounds fantastic. most noticeably, less gritty disortion and no ridiculous boomy bass.

curious what any of you fellow baritone players might be using for pickups or if anyone has any insight!

thanks a million!

I just put a Duncan JB/Jazz set in my baritone this past week, and love it.

if you're doing really high-gain stuff, go for a bare knuckle alnico nailbomb set.

The JB has already been mentioned which I think does pretty good at lower unings. The SD Distortion is also another one I like. Bare Knuckle works great too, just depends on the wood. Ever looked at the Ironman from Jim Wagner? If you dont want to spend the high price or dont like Semour Duncan, I heard that the new Dominion from Dimarzio handles things pretty well.

I might look into the JB. I'm looking for something a little lower gain, I'd say. The depth of the tuning creates a good bit of gain on its own. Thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming!
