dont have alot of cash, probably around $1200 range.....need something realy portable and w/ a good bottom end for classic rock/rock outfit..... no funk or slap pop..... minimum 300w
this rig has to go in a trunk and a back seat of a 3 series so there aint alot of room compared to a Taurus.

Look at the TC Electronic Bass amps, especially the RH450 and matching cabs. Pretty sweet stuff for the money.

Mark Bass stuff is PERFECT for what you are looking for. Ultralight, small and great tone.

Also, that RH450 sounds FUCKING INCREDIBLE. Forgive the language and capitals, but I can't stress enough how great the gear TC Electronics is putting out sounds.

I know you said a minimum of 300 watts but this thing is absolutely phenomenal. I played a Mesa Titan V12 with a Powerhouse1200 cab (which I still own). But it is a huge pain to move it anywhere. I just got this recently:

It sounds HUGE, absolutely great amp. I've received numerous compliments on the tone I get out of this little thing.

What I am going with, their stuff is small and powerful.

BTW the pups is what brings "slap pop and funk", not the amp imo.

500W and 4lbs. Our bass player has one as a backup and it powers his 8x10 no problem and sound good.

Yeah. My TC Rep told me that they don't really send out "demo" units anymore.... because they don't come back.

+1 to the Markbass and GK amps. I didn't know TC electronics made amps, but they look pretty cool too.

Check out www.talkbass.com for more opinions if you need that.

I played with a bass player once who had a small Mark Bass combo. Sounded huge for its size. So +1 to that.

i played with my AMPEG rig last night, goin to be hard to give it up cos the low end is so huge but my back and car wont deal shame.......lookn like a mark bass combo or TC at the moment

What about a Mesa/Boogie M-Pulse 1U rackmountable bass amp, with a 1x15 Orange bass cab?

Not much to carry, solid pumping bottom end, great headroom, Boogie quality.

I don't know how much it costs though. sorry.

But this ain't slap pop!
