As in most reliable to use with an Axe-Fx. Opinions & brands to check out?

Carvin DCM series seem to be the "in" product for the Axe.... it's what I've got. (axe will be here friday).

QSC
Crown

Mackie 1400i would be a nice choice too.

or

Crown
Crest
QSC
Carvin

whatever really, as long as it's fairly transparent.

You should look into the old Mosvalve power-amps. Jerry Cantrell used those for a while.

I think the OP is talking about transparent power amps for use with the Axe-FX which models tube power amps.

The mosvalve has a distinctive voice, very much like a tube amp. It probably wouldn't be the best choice for the axe FX.

EDIT: I should probably find a mosvalve for when I get my fish. Maybe it will sound like Facelift.

Carvin DCM600 is great and has plenty of power (Don't know if it is the "best", but it works VERY well for me)

I also really like the VHT 2/50/2.

I go back and forth....have both

Depending on the volume you need a Think a Crown D-75 or hafler TA1600 would fit the bill nicely.

The Carvin stuff is not looked upon very highly in the PA audio world, but it may be fine for this application.

In general you can't go wrong with Crown or QSC amps.....

Mine's still for sale.......

Thanks guys, I was all set on Carvin (nice price, etc.) then I read a few reviews about their reliability after a year or two and just freaked me a little. I will probably still go with them but will look into the others as well.
