I might be Getting an Avenger and would like to know which speakers sound the best with the Avenger?

I used CL80 when i had an avenger, man. Love those speakers, still have em.

I have a marshall 1960BHW with the Heritage G12H30's....so i'm looking forward to how that will sound. I just want to figure out other options in case i don't like the G12H with the Avenger.

Greenbacks. Had a Hot Rod 50 halfstack 15 years ago that sounded great with the stock (at the time) Vintage 30's. Mesa MC90, CL 80, G1280, G12H30.....all sounded good with another Hot Rod +.

I run my SLO through an '80 Marshall G12 65 cab. Killer. The EVH cab I have is nice too.

Loving Greenies (blackbacks technically) with my SLO, especially for recording.

Scumback M75s, but greenbacks also sound very similar with it...

From what i've been hearing here and other forums...the SLO & Avenger sound great with just about any speaker. I'm excited to get mine.

The SLO I had sounded great with G12-65s and greenbacks.

I've got a SLO. I run it through a Bogner 4x12 with reissue Greenbacks on top, British V30's on bottom or through an Avatar 2x12 with Chinese V30's. It's smoother through the Bogner and more spiky in the midrange through the Avatar. I really don't know if that's due to the inherent characteristics of 4x12's vs. 2x12's, or if it's the difference in the speakers that cause it. It's probably a bit of both. A lot of guys like the Emenince Legend V128's that come stock in Soldano cabs. I'd like to try a pair in my Avatar. From what I understand the Legend V128 is a lot like a V30 but smoother and deeper in the low end. I'd really like to try some 55hz Heritage Greenbacks with the SLO. Seems like they'd match up very well.

G12M speakers were my fav out of what I tried it with (G12H, V30, G12T-75, C90, a few Eminence speakers). Unfortunately I didn't get a quad of G12-65s until right as I was selling the SLO, but I suspect that those would have sounded nice, too. I also liked the V30 and C90. The only speakers I truly didn't like with the amp were G12Hs (too zingy on the high end IMHO) and the stock Soldano Eminence speakers (dark and dull but still harsh. Great combination there).

i really like a mix of v30 and t75 with mine.

i also really liked evm 12l as well.

the eminece delta is nice if you want to shave off some highs.

I spoke with Mike Soldano several times about different options (as far as what I was wanting from the SLO). The overall impression I got was he wasn't a fan of V30s but spoke highly of the greenbacks. I've been wanting to get a 1x12 GB to hear the difference.

^ Mike Soldano must be a brilliant amp designer for building the SLO, but will all respect I wouldn't look to him for speaker advice given that his selection of stock speakers for his cabs are terrible IMHO. That said, I agree with him if he's suggesting greenbacks, but V30s (particularly the Mesa ones) sound fine with the SLO.

Can you tell me about the Mesa V30'S? I have a friend that wants to trade 2 of them for 2 of my Heritage G12H30's

I've had both Mesa V30s and Chinese V30s, both broken in by very loud amps. The Mesa V30 sounds "syrupy" while the Chinese V30 still sounds a bit brittle. That's the best description in words I can give. There's a recent thread here that shows some of the differences; I think the magnet is different? And supposedly the doping maybe is different? I dunno, but they sound different to me.

The only G12H30s I've played were 75 Hz versions from the '70s. They sounded scooped and had a "zingy" high end that I didn't care for. Between Mesa V30s and a G12H30, I'd go from the Mesa V30, personally. But in the end I think I prefer the G12M and G12-65 to even the Mesa V30.

I'm just going to throw my lady in the car, the avenger and a les paul and maybe a boost pedal and drive around trying out cabs....until i find something that i love.

That's essentially what I did. Took my head and #1 guitar around trying all the cabs I could find until I just settled on one (early '80s Marshall with G12-65s). Now I pretty much don't have any interest in flipping cabs because I know that there really isn't much out there that I'd be willing to take over the cab that I've got. Good luck and happy hunting!
