Not human.

Just no way. No dice. Guy's interplanetary or something...just not of this world.

MUST have DVD. I've watched it MANY times.

Jeremy Colson is one of my favorite drummers. Sick. Bellar on bass. Vai killing it. Epic.

I own it and I'm not a huge Vai fan....but I watch it actually a lot....PHENOMENAL! Worth the money.

I've seen this and I certainly don't mind seeing it again so I can pick up the pieces of my blown mind.

And this makes for an interesting counter-argument for choosing tonewood for guitar bodies: that Jem has an acrylic body and his tone is righteous.

True dat. And weren't there some iconic songs/albums of the past played with Lucite guitars as well as acrylic - Dan Armstrong, Goya, and a few others come to mind...

But his lights up. Because he's Steve Vai.

Anyone know if there is any killer footage out there from the Eat Em & Smile era, backstage, gear, etc? I'd love to see Vai back then with his Jose Marshalls, custom Jacksons, etc.

Have this concert on Blu Ray, worth the few extra bucks for the superior picture and sound. GREAT show.

i recorded this concert twice from the Paladia channel on Dish network, and both times there were some phasing issues going on in the bass. over several minutes the bass/bass drum would be out of phase and disappear. it's said that Vai mixed it himself, so i can't believe he would mess it up that bad.

aside from the bass/phasing issue, the concert was great. if you've never seen Vai, this was some of his best stuff.

Great DVD.

That said I'm having a hard time getting into his new one.

I still have yet to find one!!

Just don't dig Vai or his live bands anymore. Fire Garden and Ultra Zone tours were the shit and his most amazing live band, IMO. Not that this band doesn't sound good. Obviously these players have skills, but I think he is hiring a bunch of no name nerds that are cheaper when he used to always have some other notable musicians in his bands. Just my $.02. Obviously he is great as well, but he isn't doing anything new and exciting and that was kind of the cool thing about him was that he pushed boundries and wasn't afraid to be weird. I feel he is tapped out.

Wow. Like the style or not, its such beautiful playing.

Funny Nickelback comment above....

I do get a little mesmerized by his control and ability but his tone and material leaves me cold after a while. His tone's always a little too fuzzy for me. I really dig the whammy bar stuff he does at 22:00, just before Tender Surrender. He's like Yngwie to me. Amazed for a few minutes then I'm over it. But Yngwie has much better tone :D

The other guitar player may be amazing in his own right but not that you can hear him or his VHT's.
