Best tone I've ever heard - or am I just imagining it?

Depends on what you are doing. But yeah, FRPC does make everything sound amazing

Yeah that dude plays very well, brings out the goods in any amp he plays

Sounds great.... but he is using some reverb and/or delay with micro pitching to get that thickness. It's really noticable when he starts getting into the high gain, so it not all "amp". ;)
Nothing wrong with using knowledge and some extra grease when needed  ;)

Nope, not at all. I only use plain reverb and delay when I do my videos...never any pitch shifting. Adding micro pitch shifting makes it becomes insane. :D

Maybe micro pitch shift is what guys need to find their amp quicker

FastRedPonyCar said that he didn't use any pitch-shifting at all.

Can you do the micro pitch shifting with a G-major? :)
I'd like to try that, but after playing more or less exclusively in a Metallica tribute band at loud/live levels the last ten years, I don't know how to do anything but very dry rhythm sounds, and wah and delay on the leads

Yup. He said no micro pitch shifting...but he admitted to using multiple mics, so he is blending the sound from two sources to add thickness and depth. Still sounds great

Yup, that is his key.......blending those two mics.

i grabbed one for a rehearsal amp. Didnt sound bad stock. I swapped tthe PTs to KT88s...big improvement. May try some 6550s in her.. and some better Preamp tubes. But overall pretty good for $800.00

No, I would say you are hearing correctly, pretty rockin to me!  Great sounding amp, need to find one of those to try myself! FWIW kinda liked the Hardwire as well! Cheaper SLO alt??

Sounds beast. However, if you watch the "how I record" videos he's doing, it's looking like a minimum of 4 mics, with some serious room tone happening. He also mentioned panning/eqing/mixing/editing/etc. It does sound awesome (a bit boomy, but that's almost certainly the room mics being up too high), but there's more than just plug/play on these vids it seems.

I don't know anything about the G major, so I don't know. :)

Sounds good and for $800...really good. Is it PCB or PTP?

PCB....more than likely built in some far east country (Vietnam or China would be my guess...) Not that I am saying that in a bad way, as I am sure it REALLY reduces cost...
