A friend of mine does wood burning projects and mentioned doing one on a guitar body for me. I was wondering what is a good company to go with for something like this? Appreciate the help!!

i would think that i would ask him what has the best results with burning.

i have some wood burning experience, but i am far from a pro, i just woodburn cigar boxes for thing like wedding gifts and make wood burned cigar box cribbage boards that i occasionally sell.

some of the different woods have vastly different results, and unfortunately i have no idea which woods are which since i primarily get boxes from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, and they are all a little different.

Thanks bro! Yeah, obviously tone has to be my priority since I'll want to play it but gotta find something that is a lighter color. I'm looking at a Strat shaped most likely so Alder might be a good one.

It's not even just color, the density of the wood the amount of natural oil, etc.

Tone is important but I don't know if alder or swamp ash or basswood would have the best results with the wood burning.

I have wood burned a cheap gibson SG and the mahogany wasn't the easiest or most difficult to burn.

As far as color you can use a light stain over wood burning with good results.

Highly encourage you to ask your buddy his opinion on what woods burn the best.

I know basswood is light and my grandfather is a relief carver and he widdles/carves only basswood, as it is relatively soft.
