Gotta ship 7stringer’s new baby from Houston to Canada in 1 piece. I was kinda thinking just ship it like it is but he wants it boxed. Have no idea where to get a box like that so just wondering what some of you guys have done. I’ve pieced together a box out of a couple boxes before to ship an amp but it wasn’t going this far. Anyways what do you guys think? Thanks.

Go to a guitar shop and ask for a box. They will usually have one.

All the ones I've had shipped come in a case in a box surrounded by foam and then an outer box. Has done well for me...

Exactly what I do. Just call around to a few shops for boxes.

Wrap the headstock in bubble wrap, put a long sheet of thick paper between the strings and frets, in the case, in a box, and if possible another box. If theres no case, wrap the guitar multiple times with bubble wrap like it's your wife's fine china. Don't use peanuts to fill the box. Use brown shipping paper, construction paper or news paper at the very least. Call local Guitar Centers or Samash and ask if they have boxes, you may have to dumpster dive. I always grab extras.

Cool man. Thanks guys. 7stringer also mentioned to try and get a box from Gc. Looks like that’s what the plan is going to be. It’s an Ibanez prestige so the case is pretty solid and form fitting.

The most important thing you want to do is ensure that the body fits snuggly in the case, using foam or padding around the horns if there is any movement at all. If the body sits tightly in the case, so will the neck.

The UPS store here has guitar boxes for sale. Maybe check your local UPS or Fedex Office? We used to have a recycling center here that I'd just go and grab cardboard from, they had a huge pile just outside the building.

At this point, I just pay Fedex to pack and ship. If they break it, then (in theory) they have to pay since they packed it.
