Best wood/pups for Classic in getting true tone?

Aloha Folks...

Quick question, perhaps one that's been done to death, but I'm asking regardless. I am super stoked with my S4...it's a beautiful player. More so, I'm super impressed with its single coil performance and tone  I'm thinking about getting a strat-proper 'Classic' model with 3 single coil FL's in the ax. I'd like to go with a maple neck, maybe even spring for the birdseye calibre. And then a grey or black body with a black perloid guard.

The question I have is, I want a lot of jingle, sparkle, shimmer and glassiness from this ax. I know the maple neck helps a lot with my S4 sounding 'spankin', so, that being said - with the above mentioned spec's (SS frets btw), what body wood would be the best??

Thanks so much,
V.

Try emailing the guys at Suhr, they can guide you towards the sounds you're after.

Birds Eye is a bit of a gamble, but the quartersawn has a nice sound to it. Maybe ask them about ash as a body wood for more sparkle?

Thanks - what's your take on the birdseye? Why the gamble - I won't trounce your thoughts, I thought maple was maple, so I thought some nice figuring would be an added bonus. I'll fire something off to the lads at Suhr - but in the meantime, any feedback is greatly appreciated

I think that a high grade f birdseye could be somewhat unstable, tuning wise. Not sure though.

In my experience, birdseye necks are very unstable. Requiring constant adjustment. In John's words, "it's diseased wood, after all".

I don't even think Suhr will do birdseye necks- I may be mistaken though
