I don't know if you guys are familiar with these types of headphones but I got these and they don't sound nearly loud enough via my iPhone, which I read previous to purchasing them so I expected that... but I was thinking that my Behringer AMP800 would be enough to power them which it technically does but it sounds very muddy for lack of a better term... do any of you guys have any experience with this?

- FiiO E5
- Behringer AMP800
- Bravo Amp
- PA2
- CMoy

Any thoughts?

I was looking at these just last weekend. The sales guy said they were a different impedance than other headphones and as such wasn't as loud.

But damn, they sure sounded good. Best sounding headphones I've ever tried.

are they the 80ohm version?

i have these 770's, and the 880's (250ohm) and there is a definite volume difference between the 2.

however, I would not use either with my iphone, as neither is loud enough.

not what they are meant for. you typically need a headphone amp for most professional headphones.

Thanks for chiming in fellas... yes it is the 80 ohm version. With my iPhone it was no where near as loud as I normally run my Skull Candy FMJs. The DT770 sounded very bassy and had almost no mids or highs... I have the Behringer AMP800 and all it did was increase the overall loudness of the low end without bringing out the mids or highs... So I wanted to know what other headphone amp folks have tried and whether these headphones are just not for me...

Yeah, there are 2 versions, their ohmage is different and you got the wrong one for use with an Iphone.

250ohm or 80ohm ?\
the 80ohm will be more efficient and def louder....

These guys specialize in all things headphones, including amps.

They've got some real expensive audiophile stuff, but I bought their entry level "Total AirHead" headphone amp (sells for under $100), and it easily powers my Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro phones (250 ohm impedence).

FYI, for those interested in purchasing a set of headphones, Sweetwater currently has some great prices (like $100 off for many models of Beyerdynamic phones).

Thanks for chiming in fellas... as I said, the DT770 is the 80 ohm version and with my Behringer AMP800 all it does is get louder but is still muddy... just want to know if this is a common occurrence with this "amp"?
