I have 3 BFG modded heads, 2 Marshall's and a JCA 20, all different, but awesome, all with foot switchable dual Masters

What mods do you have ?

I have the #1 - Marshall law mod, hence the name and my JCA is a #1 - 20lb Hammer, the other one doesn't really have a name

I have heard clips of both those mods and they sound great !

I took my modded BFG JCM800 1x12" combo and a Zoom Q3 to rehearsal earlier today. I really don't think the recordings even begin to capture what kind of a monster this little thing is. But, here it is...some spliced together clips. I just thew the Q3 on the floor next to my bass amp. I'm not playing guitar in these clips...a good friend of mine is on guitar (how about a little plug for our new band Psycho Sister).

The Master Volume was set to only about 2 (not 2 o'clock...2 on the dial)...which was enough to keep up with the bass and drums. This thing can get LOUD.
Gain was set to 5, without using the extra gain stage.
Presence : 5
Treble : 5
Mids : 6.5
Bass : 7

The amp actually does thump and has a surprising amount of low-end (For a JCM800), which I don't think translated very well here. A huge factor in making that happen is an EVML Black Label, though a CL80 works just as well. It's also VERY articulate and is not a kind amp in any way, shape, or form...it CUTS and WILL be heard. What we didn't do was roll off the volume knob on the guitar. This amp also cleans up VERY well...so much so, that most people would just assume it also had a clean channel, which it doesn't...just a single channel that seems to do it all.

I'll try to get some better clips of it's full potential some day. For now, here's a just a taste...

Very cool clip...love hearing the amp in the mix. I did that same mod for my lead guitar player and he can't stop playing it. Thanks for doing that and for the support!!!

I tried your clip but it won't play. :(

Brian is very talented. He traded me for his modded Dual Rec which is now amazing.

I have been looking at buying a Splawn but am thinking I will have Brian at BFG modify a Marshall JCM 800 2204 for me.
