So I picked up positive grids BIAS after all the glowing reviews and killer sounding demos, grabbed an iRig HD and hooked it all up to my iPad, struck my first chord expecting tonal nirvana... And boom. Sounded like a crap sandwich. I've GOT to be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

It took me a while to dial it in as well. Earbuds suck, get some decent headphones... Set it to low latency... And look at a few amps setup in a few of the demos, then you will start to get the hang of it. I really had to get jamup as we'll so I could put them in with some effects. One other thing too... Turn off that room control slider... Sounds like ass. And just one more... Watch your levels, in and out.

I got an Ipad Air 2 with Bias/Fx. Im having a tough time with it as well. I started off with an IRig2 interface but it created so much feedback live that I upgraded to the IRig HD. Noise is gone but seems like none of the amps, esp the high gain ones have the gain or balls that the stock amps have in just about every demo I've seen. Ive gotten close to the same tones with a heavily boosted ts808. Positive Grid support seems like they are clueless about what I'm talking about. Anyone have the same experience? I will also say that the standalone desktop sounds better to me than the IOS version.

I bought the Merrow/Loomis/Englund pack and they sounded good out of the box (Merrow 5150 was the best). Check output levels and be sure to enable or disable the guitar cab depending on if you're using a real cab/impulses or just direct.

The interface may not be good? Not sure I used the Apogee Jam and it was great.

This. I have had no luck with the cheaper I rig connections but with the apogee thing it works great with my iPad.

Something's wrong. Mines the opposite. Everything has more gain than its real life counterparts and I dial a lot of bass out of it to sound normal. I don't remember which headphones I have, they were about $80 or so...

But seriously, I've never used the mobile version - only Desktop. No probs there and I can use professional preamps (interfaces), plus add studio magic in my DAW.

What about the Line 6 thing? How does that compare to Bias? I'm thinking about getting something like this to practice/jam through my laptop or an iPad so I don't piss off my neighbors.

Had the same experience.. purchased BIAS for desktop. Loaded all, even followed some of the YT step by step videos - instant shitty sound. I could not find a single tone I liked over the 2 weeks i was messing with it. My AMT P2 pedal into the DIbox -> audio interface-> IRs sounds amazing compared.

BIAS too compressed/gainy, etc? Definitely gotta be doing something wrong.

Check your guitar interface's (preamp/iphone doo-hickey, etc) input gain; might be pushing the signal too hard. I have my UA LA-610 MkII pretty low. Also check in/out gain in BIAS itself (as mentioned). And not all interfaces are equal in quality.

I can get fantastic tones outta it (playing starts at 11:00):

I did notice that on a few of the videos I watched, they did have the tube screamer turned on. That makes a world of difference. I downloaded the desktop version also. It still has the gain problem but sounds much fuller. Im having much better results with peavey ampkit+, but I love the layout of Bias for live use. I'm only playing for about 20 min on Sunday morning, so I don't bring the Axe Fx much.

On my phone, BIAS only sounds right if loaded through JamUP. It sounds very different if I use BIAS itself. No idea why. But I do like it.

I'm using an Apogee One, FWIW.

Must be a bad preamp tube or the Bias Pot is off a little.

I've been talking to a PG service guy last few days. He's saying to check all the global settings, make sure Cab is on. Like I haven't already... I find Bias amp high gain amps are useless without a boost. I posted a few of my patches their clouds and he told me they sound great... YMMV....
