I have got a Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe that I bought used on Reverb years ago. It has always been my 'go to' Amp In a Box pedal. There is something really natural and organic about the sound. Recently, it sounded like I had a loose ground in the guitar when I played through the pedal and the volume / signal would slowly rise and fall after about 30-45 minutes of use. I went through the guitar, the cables, the power supply, blah blah blah - but found if I tried a different AIB pedal on my shelf, all those symptoms were gone. It was definitely the Pinnacle pedal. I figured it was time to find a new (used) one online - but decided to reach out to Wampler to see if they could fix it for me for less than the cost of a replacement.
I sent an email to them and got a reply in less than 10 minutes. Didn't know this, but manufacturing of all Wampler pedals is now a the BAD factory in Cali. I spoke with a guy named Jerry. He said he was 99% sure that based on my description of symptoms, it was one (or both) of the 'soft touch / no click' footswitch buttons. He said as they wear, the do lots of crazy things with the signal. He dropped 2 brand new buttons in a Fed-X envelope at no charge and they were on my doorstep overnight. The footswitch buttons are plug-n-play - no soldering necessary. I had the old ones out and the new ones in in less than 5 minutes. And the pedal sounds like brand-ass new. No more grounding hum or buzz and no more volume/signal fluctuation. It sounds cleaner, quieter and 'hotter' than it ever has. And this for a pedal with a 2017 serial number that I bought used in the first place!
Customer Service is alive and well at Wampler!
