Anyone witness a shootout between the IIC+ and a new blackout recto with a boosted front end, ie. tube screamer ect...

I have a iic++ and have had the Dual Rec Multiwatt blackout. It's not even close to the iic++. Whole different thing going on.

It is but is the blackout boosted even close or do we need to talk about the Herbert? Is nothing pissed off as a IIC++ for under $3K? I know a boosted rev F was close, heard it first hand so what is the point of the blackout anyway. It doesn't even matter if it has 40 channels and mega switching and blah blah blah...just looking to up my game since hearing one of, if not the most pissed off tone as of late. It was just ridiculous, I kid you not...

I've said over and over nothing like a real deal IIC+ fully loaded and by the way I have to send mine to Mike B sometime. Hopefully you can hear it soon.

I've owned a lot of amps and still do. None do the iic+ thing, IMO.

If you want "in the ballpark" for under $3k, get a JP-2C. Way better amp than a Rectifier.

I've had two rev F's. neither sounded anything like a iic+ to me, boosted or not.

This.

Rectos have a tubby low end that is present to me even after tightening it up with the usual suspect pedals. It's still there even if a little.
The 2C+ tone is unique and not copied, closest would be a JP, Mark III or IV but the difference is still huge. Like taking the blanket off your speakers huge.
The feel is unlike anything out there, including Camerons which have a special feel also.

On the reborns, it is purely cosmetic.

As to the older revisions, I'm not sure if it there is a difference on the black-face models. I've only played one, a triple, and it was one of the best rectos I've played.

I owned an original C+ and a dual recto revision C at the same time. The C+ was tighter than the recto, even when it was boosted. That said, my recto was well under 2k and the C+ was almost 3k. Both have that distinctive boogie tone. There wasn't a big enough difference to justify having both for me. I sold the Mark and still have the recto.

From what I've been told there were few rev C produced and I had one years ago. I remember it was pissed off and I never tried to boost it because I knew nothing about running them that way.

The Modern Reborns are different cosmetics ,tighter in the lows , and a bit more upper mid grind , tighter Brighter and more articulate ,basically they made it to capture the boosted recto sound and changes that everyone already did to make them work

I was referring to the fact that it was black versus the chrome. The whole concept Of the reborn was that it was supposed to be more like the rectifiers how old

What happened with your MKIII++???? I saw it up for sale? Not to your taste?

Needs more work to taste. Going back to Mike this next week. I'm not far so I don't mind since Mike is all pro sauce. This amp will be like no other MKIII++ I don't really understand the convoluted switching scheme so some of that I want to address to simplify things there.

This is great
Save some cash and bide your time for a C+ to come up for sale. It'll be worth it.
No doubt but the more Diezel Herbert I see I want. They're comparable in price, maybe a shootout between those two for metal tones is needed, haven't seen talk sizing them up in that arena yet...

The Herbert sounds like a beast for sure. But, you can always find one for sale. Pretty common amp. The 2C+ is not always for sale...If you can take EXP Customs offer and try one for yourself, do it...
I know I've been a Marshall guy forever, stock or modded..and I friggin LOVE what the C+ does for my ears...special amp.
